Tori | Response TEAM VOLUNTEER
Tori joined embrace January 2022 after following us on Instagram and TikTok for a while. She absolutely loves what Embrace does and the opportunity to be able to be apart of it was absolutely amazing to her. Tori first got diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes on January 13, 2021 at 20 years old. She says, “I feel i’ve been lucky in my diabetic journey because even though it’s been more than a year since my diagnosis I’m still in the pre-diabetic phase and can still live my life pretty close to normally with a few highs and lows here and there. The day I got the news from my endocrinologist, I didn’t even know how to feel. I was already going through a tough time because I had just lost my grandmother in the previous December and my grandfather ending up passing shortly after in the coming February. So due to that, I feel as though I didn’t fully process the fact that I am/will be diabetic until a couple months later. That’s when I started to focus my attention on finding the diabetic community and resources and it has helped me so much.”
Outside of Embrace, Tori is a Starbucks Barista in Orlando, Fl attending ASU virtually through the SCAP program Starbucks offers. She played violin through 5th-12th grade and continue to do so at home in my free time. Aside from that, you can probably always find her listening to music, going to concerts, traveling to new cities, or just chilling at home catching up on her favorite TV shows and finding more horror movies to watch with her brother.
